(One of Wash U's Four Worst Bathrooms.)

Sometimes, in the bathroom-reviewing process, it is difficult to come to an opinion about a particular restroom. They are generally similar to each other, and the distinctive attributes that make one bathroom better or worse than another do not always reveal themselves on first glance. Other times - as with the Prince Hall men's room near room 229 - a bathroom's quality jumps out at you.

Prince Hall has some of the most distinctive bathrooms on campus, and the second-floor men's room is no exception to this: it is without a doubt one of Hilltop Campus's worst restrooms. Indeed, if one word comes to mind upon viewing this bathroom, it would be "broken." The paper towel machine was hanging open when I arrived to review, an exposed air duct does not seem to be in perfect repair, there are readily apparent holes in the ceiling and floor, and the hot water did not seem to work during our visit. Even the door could stand repairs.

Needless to say, having a dominant design feature of "disrepair" makes for an unattractive bathroom - ugly décor and rusted blinds did not help the situation any. Furthermore, the toilet did not appear to have been cleaned lately when we arrived to review - always a bad sign. Indeed, if there is one thing that makes this bathroom worth visiting other than its sheer badness, it is the poor attempt at racist graffiti that is found on one of its walls: an incorrect swastika next to two stick figures with enlarged penises.
